Elise Import

I'm not going to repeat the whole process here since I've already compiled an detailed list, whilst importing my Subaru Impreza Turbo and it is probably way out of date by now. The whole import environment has changed in recent years though. The price differentials and savings are much smaller and there are now many brokers that can source cars for you. I'm not sure it is worth importing an Elise now.

A few Lotus Elise specifics though:

  • The European Elise specification does not inlcude a Thatcham category 1 alarm system. You can get this fitted back in the UK. SGT (Taplow, Slough) will fit you the same Cobra alarm system for £420 inc vat and fitting. The aftermarket Lotus price for the alarm, without fitting, is about £800. The xtra money gets you the ELise logo on the remote keyfob, but this wears away after about six months anyway!
  • The European specifcation does not always include a passenger footrest and this may be an optional accessory.
